Shopify store migration

A platform move that is planned, staged, and reviewed before anything goes live.

Migration and replatforming is the end-to-end move of a store or website from one platform to another: data, URLs, integrations, and cutover, planned in writing and executed to a fixed price. I handle Shopify migrations from Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Magento, BigCommerce, and WooCommerce, and marketing site moves off Webflow, WordPress, and Squarespace onto platforms you own.

Also covers Website migrationReplatform my store

  • Fixed bid after the audit
  • 50% deposit 50% at production deployment
  • Staged in full reviewed before cutover
  • 30 days of support after cutover

Who this is for

  • You are leaving SFCC, Magento, BigCommerce, or WooCommerce for Shopify.
  • Your marketing site is stuck on Webflow, WordPress, or Squarespace and needs to move.
  • You are moving from a monolith to a headless setup.
  • You have been burned by a migration before and want it planned properly this time.

What you get

  1. Migration plan covering data, URLs, integrations, and cutover.
  2. Redirect map and SEO preservation work.
  3. Staging environment you can review before anything goes live.
  4. Cutover on your schedule, with a rollback plan.
  5. Documentation of what moved, what changed, and how to run it.

Selected work

  • A B2B SaaS company Webflow to Astro and Netlify. Fourteen pages, staged in full for review before cutover.
  • An enterprise apparel brand Salesforce Commerce Cloud to Shopify Plus.

My take

Three things go wrong in migrations, and none of them are the platform: redirects nobody mapped, integrations nobody listed, and cutovers scheduled for a Friday afternoon. The written plan exists to force those lists into the open before anything is built. Cutover happens early in the week, in the morning, with everyone who needs to be reachable, reachable.

How it works

Audit

The current platform and everything connected to it, listed in writing.

Written plan

fixed price

Data, URLs, integrations, cutover, and the price to do all of it.

Build and stage

You review the whole thing on staging before anything is live.

Cutover

30 days of support after

On your schedule, with a rollback ready and me reachable.

The math

I've run an eight-person agency, held leadership in a hundred-person one, and been CTO of a third. I know where agency budgets go: overhead, junior hours, handoffs.

AI changed that math. The person who scopes the work is the person who builds it, and there is nobody in between.

Questions

Will I lose SEO rankings when I migrate?

The plan includes a redirect map for every URL that changes and keeps URLs the same wherever the new platform allows it. Some movement in the weeks after a cutover is normal. Lasting drops almost always trace to redirects that were never mapped, which is what the plan is for.

How long does a Shopify migration take?

A small store with few integrations can move in a few weeks. An enterprise store with an ERP, a 3PL, and years of order history takes months. The audit is what turns that range into a date, which is why it comes first.

Can you migrate customer accounts and order history?

Customers and orders can be imported so history is preserved in the new admin. Passwords cannot be moved between platforms. Customers get an activation email for the new store, and the plan covers how and when that goes out.

Should I go headless when I migrate?

Usually not. Headless adds a second codebase to build and maintain, and most stores do not get anything from it that a well-built theme would not give them. It makes sense when you have a real reason: a content-heavy front end, several storefronts sharing one backend, or a team that already runs a frontend stack.
